Needles: Hooked metal needle is the principle/ main knitting elements of the knitting m/c.
(i) Independent needle: Needles which can slide in the needle bed and be move individually drawing the stitch forming process.
(ii) United needle: Needles which are fixed in the needle bar and which can only be moved in unison during the loop forming process.
